Alcaraz is hunting for a 6th Grand Slam title.
We are impressed, but not surprised – World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz is into yet another Grand Slam semifinal at the 2025 US Open. The Spanish superstar is yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows this year, and will face 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic in the final four. ‘Carlitos’ is hunting down his sixth Slam in New York, and seems to be unstoppable so far. But as we all know, the 22-year-old has been bolstered by a team of people whom he holds very close to his heart.
Carlos Alcaraz’s wins so far have come against Reilly Opelka, Mattia Bellucci, Luciano Darderi, Arthur Rinderknech and Jiri Lehecka. Under the astute guidance of Juan Carlos Ferrero, Alcaraz continues to reach new heights with every passing match. But who will be sitting in his box during the semifinal encounter against Djokovic? Let’s take a look.
Coaching Team and Support Staff of Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz will be coached by the phenomenal former Grand Slam champion Juan Carlos Ferrero. The 45-year-old head coach has been working together with the reigning Roland Garros winner since 2019 – three years before Alcaraz captured his maiden Grand Slam trophy at the US Open. Ferrero is a former World No. 1 and Grand Slam champion as a player. He previously worked alongside Alexander Zverev as a coach.
Ferrero will be aided by assistant coach Samuel Lopez, who is also travelling with the team in New York. Having joined the Alcaraz setup in late 2024, the 55-year-old has previously mentored former Olympic bronze medalist Pablo Carreno Busta for a decade. During the 2024 Australian Open, Lopez stood in for Ferrero – the Spanish veteran was undergoing knee surgery. “They trust each other 100%. Being able to travel with both, for me, it’s going to be great,” Alcaraz stated about the bond between his two coaches.

Can this be one of the reasons of Carlitos’ success?

Meanwhile, Alcaraz’s fitness trainers and physiotherapist are also likely to be seated in his box on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Juanjo Moreno is the fitness coach of Carlos Alcaraz. “When we prepare Carlos for any competition, it is for him to win,” Moreno said. If past matches are anything to go by, Alcaraz’s personal trainer Alberto Lledo and physio Fran Rubio can also be seen in the stands on Friday.
Family – Mother, Father, Siblings
Carlos Alcaraz’s parents travel for most of his tournaments – particularly the big events. Mother Virginia Garfia Escandon and father Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez have supported their prodigious talent throughout his career. While his father is a former tennis player and director at their local club built by Alcaraz’s grandfather, his mother used to work at IKEA.
“For me, it’s amazing to have you here supporting me,” Alcaraz said after beating Zverev to win the 2024 French Open. “Since I was a little kid, I’ve said many times, I was running from school to put on the TV and watch this tournament. Now, I’m lifting the trophy in front of all of you.”
Elder brother Alvaro Alcaraz will also be in attendance. Carlos is the second of four sons in the Alcaraz Garfia family. Alvaro used to play competitive doubles, and now travels with his brother for several tournaments. “I felt like my hair was really long already, and before the tournament I really wanted to get a hair cut. Suddenly my brother just misunderstood with the machine – he just cut it. The only way to fix it was just to shave it off,” Alcaraz said after his opener at the US Open.

Agent – Albert Molina
Albert Molina has been the agent/manager of Carlos Alcaraz since the age of 12. He takes care of the Spaniard’s routines and daily formalities. Molina was one of the talking points after the release of the 22-year-old’s docu-series ‘Carlos Alcaraz – My Way.’ He was often seen reprimanding Alcaraz for occasionally slacking off. Molina is evidently the one calling the shots and dictating terms when required.
Will Carlos Alcaraz regain his lost jewel three years after tasting success at the US Open for the very first time? We will have our answers soon.
