Taylor Swift’s absence from the Kansas City Chiefs’ international clash in Brazil left fans guessing-and now, according to a new report, the reason behind it had less to do with football and more to do with finances.
The Chiefs dropped their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, 27-21, at the Neo Química Arena in São Paulo. Many expected Swift, who has been a near-constant presence at Travis Kelce’s games this season, to make the high-profile trip. Instead, the “Blank Space” singer stayed home, and the mystery lingered until details surfaced over the weekend.
A Daily Mail report citing an unnamed source claims Swift opted out after calculating the price tag of pulling off a secure, quick-turnaround visit. Between chartered travel, housing her team, and the expense of flying security staff ahead of time to secure the stadium, the total cost was described as “tremendous.”
Security and Travel Costs “Not Worth It”
The source explained that Swift wasn’t just weighing dollars but logistics. For her, the idea of moving her team, prepping the stadium, and carving time out of an already packed tour schedule was simply too much for one NFL appearance. “It ended up being the smart thing to do, it was easier not to move mountains to watch one game,” the source said.
So instead of jetting to South America, the 14-time Grammy winner reportedly tuned in from the comfort of home. For a star balancing a billion-dollar empire and a global tour calendar, practicality won out.
As of now there is no evidence that Taylor Swift is in Brazil for the Chiefs game tonight, September 5. However, it appears that Billie Joe and Mike Dirnt of Green Day are! 🎸 pic.twitter.com/zKQ5O9NCwQ

Swift’s relationship with Kelce continues to dominate headlines, whether she’s spotted in stadium suites or missing in action. Even Eli Manning’s daughters recently FaceTimed their dad to share their excitement over the couple’s engagement news, according to People Magazine. Meanwhile, The New York Times has pointed out that Swift’s NFL appearances have boosted TV ratings and ticket sales this season.
Fans might be disappointed she skipped the Brazil trip, but the couple’s spotlight isn’t dimming anytime soon.
