Nelly Korda Hunts 16th Career Title as She Chases Charley Hull at Kroger Queen City Championship

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Nelly Korda is looking to collect her first victory of the 2025 season on Sunday at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G.

The 15-time LPGA Tour winner, who tallied seven victories in 2024 alone, has yet to win this year despite coming close on a couple of different occasions, something Korda will be working to rectify during the final round at TPC River’s Bend. She will begin her last 18 holes in Hamilton Township, Ohio in a tie for fifth at 13-under overall, having carded a 67 and two 68s over the first three days of her second berth in this tournament.

That effort has left Korda trailing Englishwoman Charley Hull by just three strokes, and after closing with an eagle on the par-5 18th hole on Moving Day in the Buckeye State, it seems like the momentum might be swinging in the two-time major champion’s favor just outside of Cincinnati with another final round in contention upcoming.

“I was between a 6-iron and a 5-iron,” Korda said about the eagle she made to close out round three. “I had 201 yards to the green. The cover was about mid-180s, and the wind was off my right. Ball was a little below my feet. Didn’t really want a rip at a 6-iron, so I faded a 5-iron in there, a little controlled 5. Tried to hit it a little higher so it wouldn’t shoot on the green and did just that.

“Nice to finish that off with an eagle, get into a good spot going into Sunday. See how (Sunday) goes.”

The Kroger Queen City Championship is Korda’s 16th tournament of the season, and she has made the cut in every start she has made so far this year, racking up six top-10 results before teeing it up this week at TPC River’s Bend, two of which were T2s or better that came at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions (2) and the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Erin Hills (T2).

However, despite that incredible display of consistency from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 2, many continue to question when Korda will add a 16th trophy to her already stout collection of titles. But that feat hasn’t been easy to achieve this season, as 24 different athletes have won the first 23 tournaments of 2025, parity that has never been seen before in the LPGA Tour’s 75-year history.

And now, after putting up three solid scores over the first 54 holes at the Kroger Queen City Championship to sit within five of the lead entering the final round for the sixth time in 2025, Korda is more than ready for the challenge of the opportunity that awaits her on Sunday in Ohio as she tries to extend that streak of different winners to 25.

“That’s what I love about golf is the grind,” Korda said. “It doesn’t matter where you are. Sometimes people come in from the back. You just have to get it going. There is nothing better than being in the hunt and being in contention, feeling that adrenaline, hoping that you are in contention going into the last few holes. But going to try and work as hard as I possibly can to get into that position (on Sunday).”
